Course requirements

To enrol, candidates must meet ICTQual AB entry requirements for academic background, age, language ability, and technical readiness for advanced electrical engineering study.

  • A minimum of a Level 4 qualification in a related field such as electrical engineering, electronics, mathematics, physics, or a science-based discipline, with a strong background in electrical engineering principles, mathematics, and physics

  • Minimum age of 16 years, proficiency in English, a solid understanding of mathematics and physics, and preferably some prior exposure to electrical engineering work, technical projects, or a related industry

Assessments

This qualification is assessed through a competence-based process in which learners must demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria across the mandatory units.

  • Internal assessment conducted by experienced and qualified assessors at the Approved Training Centre

  • Internal quality assurance carried out by the centre's IQA staff

  • External quality assurance by ICTQual AB verifiers to ensure consistency and standards

  • Evidence may include observation reports, assignments, projects, reports, professional discussions, witness testimonies, candidate-produced work, worksheets, oral and written questioning, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Progression

Successful learners can progress academically, professionally, or entrepreneurially within electrical engineering and related sectors.

  • Progress to a top-up BEng in Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • Progress to postgraduate study such as MSc programmes in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, or Automation
