The ICTQual Level 4 Award in Emergency Response: Using an AED is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to use an Automated External Defibrillator confidently and effectively during cardiac emergencies. The course covers the principles of defibrillation, casualty assessment, AED operation, and the actions required before and after defibrillation.

Recognise the signs, symptoms, and physiological effects of cardiac arrest and heart attacks

Operate AEDs correctly, including pad placement, prompts, shock delivery, and routine maintenance
Assess casualties, perform CPR alongside AED use, and communicate effectively with emergency services
